Join the American Association for Nude Recreation today!
AANR-West is a nonprofit organization based in California. We are proud to be affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR), a national organization located in Kissimmee, Florida. AANR represents nudists and naturists throughout the United States.
AANR-West specifically serves the western region, which includes Hawaii, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. We also extend our outreach to the western half of Mexico. With over 8,000 members, our organization is dedicated to creating a positive and accepting environment for individuals who enjoy nude recreation.
Our members come from diverse backgrounds and share a common interest in experiencing the natural world without clothing. We understand that this lifestyle is not for everyone, but for those who embrace it, we provide a welcoming community and numerous opportunities for connection and growth.
At AANR-West, we believe in the power of nature and the freedom of self-expression. Through activities such as hiking, camping, swimming, and sunbathing, we offer our members a chance to connect with the beauty of the natural world and with like-minded individuals. These activities allow us to foster a sense of unity and create lasting memories.
We invite you to join us in embracing the beauty of nature and the freedom of nude recreation. Whether you are a passionate nudist or simply curious about the lifestyle, AANR-West is here to support you and provide a safe and enjoyable space for self-discovery.
At AANR-West, our mission is centered around promoting body acceptance through social nudism while bringing awareness to the numerous benefits it offers. We believe that by doing so, we can contribute to a more just and tolerant appreciation of the human body in all its facets.
To achieve our mission, we engage in a variety of activities that support and advocate for social nudism:
- Establishing and maintaining private clubs, parks, resorts, health centers, clothing-optional beaches, and public lands: We provide spaces where individuals can practice and enjoy social nudism in a safe and welcoming environment.
- Advocating for laws and traditions that facilitate social nudism: We work to establish and maintain laws that support the practice of social nudism in all authorities, ensuring that individuals have the legal right to enjoy clothing-optional recreation.
- Promoting inclusivity: We support the right of people of all ages, national origins, genders, sexual preferences, and special needs to participate in and enjoy clothing-optional recreation in appropriate places.
- Fostering relationships: We strive to build positive connections with other organizations, unaffiliated groups, and individuals who share our commitment to promoting social nudism. By working together, we can create a stronger and more unified community.
We passionately believe that nude recreation can be a healthy and enjoyable way of life. However, we also recognize the misunderstandings and stigmas that often surround it. That is why we make every effort to differentiate between the clothing-optional lifestyle and sexual activity. We emphasize that they are two very distinct aspects and should not be treated as the same.
Our membership is made up of individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and with various beliefs. We are a community of individuals who enjoy learning, socializing, and having fun, all within a clothing-optional environment. Many of our members are politically engaged and hold a wide range of beliefs. In general, naturists tend to be well-educated and open-minded, demonstrating tolerance towards others' beliefs and socioeconomic backgrounds.
By engaging in social nudism and advocating for its acceptance, we strive to create a world where individuals can feel comfortable and accepted in their own bodies. We invite you to join us on this journey toward body acceptance, growth, and joy.
AANR-West has 27 organized clubs and thousands of members within our jurisdiction, plus countless beach groups using hiking trails, hot springs, and private backyards—where people may enjoy such activity today. We do our best to represent them and foster their growth. We offer opportunities for our members to become involved in the community. They include:

At our organization, we take the protection of our way of life very seriously. We understand that the legal landscape can be complex and ever-changing, which is why our team of experts is dedicated to monitoring legislation that could potentially harm our community. Our proactive approach allows us to stay ahead of the curve and anticipate any potential threats to our way of life so that we can take action and protect our members.
In the event that you require legal advice, we offer a wide range of services to support you. Our experienced attorneys are available to work with you and your legal team to ensure a positive outcome. We understand that every situation is unique, which is why we take the time to listen to your needs and tailor our solutions accordingly. You can trust us to provide the support and guidance you need to navigate even the most complex legal situations with confidence.
ANNUAL FESTIVALS
Our organization is dedicated to promoting a sense of community and camaraderie among nudist clubs and parks all over the country. To achieve this goal, we sponsor a variety of seasonal festivals throughout the year, each of which is held at a different park. By rotating the location of these events, we ensure that members of different clubs have the opportunity to come together and share in a fun and inclusive experience. These festivals are a great way to meet new people, make new friends, and learn more about the nudist lifestyle. In addition to these seasonal festivals, we also organize a range of other events and activities throughout the year, from group hikes and nature walks to potluck dinners and game nights. Whether you're a seasoned nudist or just curious about the lifestyle, we welcome you to join our community and take part in all that we have to offer.
SPORTS
Many of our clubs organize 5K charity runs each year to promote the naturist lifestyle and encourage others to give nudism a try. These runs have become increasingly popular and attract hundreds of non-nudists who are curious to experience the freedom of nudity, albeit with footwear. In addition to the runs, there are various social events throughout the year that allow members to connect with one another and enjoy the benefits of the naturist community.
One of the most popular events is the inter-club volleyball tournament, which sees teams from different clubs compete against one another in a friendly and welcoming environment. This tournament has become a highlight of the naturist calendar and attracts many participants.
Another event that has gained popularity in recent years is the annual Summer Games competition. This event sees naturists from different clubs come together to compete in a variety of events, such as swimming, running, and cycling. Medals and trophies are awarded to the winners, adding an extra level of excitement and motivation for participants.
Lastly, many of our clubs have recently installed pickleball courts, providing members with a new and exciting way to stay active and socialize with other naturists. With so many different events and activities to choose from, there is always something happening in the naturist community, making it a fun and rewarding lifestyle choice for those who embrace it.
TRADE SHOWS
Our booths are an essential part of our outreach efforts. By setting up booths at various events such as Travel, RV, or Earth Day shows, we are able to introduce our chosen way of life to members of the general public. These shows provide us with an excellent opportunity to connect with people and engage in meaningful conversations about sustainable living, eco-friendly practices, and the importance of protecting the environment. At each booth, we showcase our products and services, answer questions, and provide educational materials to help people understand the benefits of living a more sustainable lifestyle. The response we receive from attendees is always overwhelmingly positive and reinforces our mission to create a more eco-conscious world.
PUBLIC LANDS ADVOCACY
At AANR-West, we are dedicated to actively supporting the expansion of nude recreation onto more beaches, national forests, and state parks. We believe that social nudity has many wholesome benefits, such as increased self-esteem, body positivity, and improved mental health. Through our educational programs, meetings, and get-togethers, we promote these benefits and seek to share them with others.
We also recognize the importance of preserving clothing-optional beaches, lakes, hot springs, and hiking trails throughout the Western U.S. These natural locations provide a unique and beautiful environment for nude recreation, and we believe that they should be protected for future generations to enjoy. Additionally, we understand the value of existing nude recreation parks and resorts, and we advocate for their continued operation and expansion. By doing so, we hope to create a world where everyone can feel comfortable in their own skin and experience the joys of nude recreation.
As law-abiding citizens who are friends of nudism, including many members of the American Association for Nude Recreation, we proudly affirm that we have and are entitled to exercise the following rights, which have been established on the basis of the Constitutions of the United States and Canada, the laws of those countries, and their court rulings.

Furthermore, we have the right to privacy and personal autonomy. This means that we have control over our own bodies and can choose how and where we express ourselves, as long as we are not harming anyone else or violating any laws.
Finally, we have the right to participate in social, recreational, and cultural activities without fear of persecution or discrimination. We believe that nudism is a legitimate and valuable form of human expression, and we are committed to promoting understanding, acceptance, and respect for our lifestyle and our community.
