2022 WINR Paint and Sip Event

The first in-person WINR event, a “Paint and Sip Party,” was held on Saturday, April 23rd, in Utah in conjunction with the Southern Utah Naturists Society (SUNS).

The SUNS travel club was chosen to recognize the clubs that are growing and sharing nudism with others without the benefit of a resort. In addition, the SUNS expressed interest in co-hosting a women’s event when the time came for an in-person event.

The turnout was smaller than expected – there were four women - however, those who came were extremely excited about the event and getting together with other women.

After a brief Introduction and Welcome, sign-in, and explanation of the Photo Release, a lovely luncheon was held outside on the patio to benefit from the warm sun that appeared after the previous day of rain.

After the delicious lunch courtesy of the SUNS, the ladies took their places at the table, which was arranged with an easel, canvas, paints, paintbrushes, and an apron if you wanted to wear one.

Arlene of the SUNS and owner of the business “Buzzed Arts” explained the process. The remarkable thing about these painting events is that if you have never picked up a paintbrush or have mastered the art of painting, you are guaranteed to have fun creating your version of the sample. There is no “right” or “wrong” way. It is all about how you interpret the painting as it is taught and then making it your own.

The abstract heart was chosen by Linda Weber, WINR Chair and co-host of the event, to tie in with body positivity and loving the skin you are in.

Arlene, an artist in her own right, explained each step and gave us tips and tricks along the way. Because the pressure was off as to thinking you had to be a perfectionist, the painting was fun, and everyone encouraged each other and looked to see how each other’s pictures were progressing.

The process took about two hours to complete, and a libation was available for those who wished to imbibe. The events are called “Paint and Sip” parties, so along with the painting, individuals can loosen up with a cocktail.

After the event, Arlene and her husband Mills invited the group to relax in the hot tub.

The WINR Team would like to thank Arlene for her gracious hosting of the event, delicious luncheon, and careful and caring instruction, and Mills for his photography of the event and the use of their home for the party.

Arlene is an AANR member and owner of the business “Buzzed Arts.” She is willing to work with other AANR members or clubs to host a “Paint and Sip Party” at your location.
